Women Sculptors of the National Academy
A new exhibition just opened at the National Academy in New York: 20 works that reflect the evolution of American sculpture between the late 19th and 20th centuries, and celebrate the special achievements and contributions of female artists to the medium. The works vary in subject from classical allegory to politically charged, such as Nancy Grossman’s Gunhead, and from the ethnic references to the sexually infused works.
