Grande Dame, Mary Cassatt
In honor of her inclusion in the Women’s Work exhibition at the national Museum, today we’re remembering Mary Cassatt (American, born May 22, 1844—died June 14, 1926).
One of the three grandes dames of Impressionism—according to influential art critic Gustave Geffroy—Cassett was a pioneer in the art world, as well as a powerful fighter in the women’s suffrage movement.
