Happy Birthday Gustav Klimt
Today marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Austrian symbolist painter Gustav Klimt, whose work caused controversy for its celebration of sexuality, and is now among the most expensive artworks worldwide today.
Famed for his painting The Kiss (1907-08), which reflects his fascination with eroticism, he is also well known for his 1907 Portrait of Adele Bloch Bauer, on view at the Neue Galerie New York.
Don’t miss the first retrospective fully dedicated to Gustav Klimt’s drawings, on show at The Getty Center through September 23, 2012!
