Dust from the Heart
Pearl Lam Galleries is showing an exhibition which reveals the personal journeys of five female artists over the last 30 years of dramatic change in China. The artists’ varied narratives are presented through works ranging from video and installation pieces to photographs and paintings.
Dust from the Heart aims to explore each of the female artist’s reactions to life in the unique historical, social, and cultural context of contemporary China.
The exhibition title references the Chinese proverb Yi Chen Bu Ran, which literally means “dust free,” and is commonly used to describe an individual free from anguish, grief, and suffering.
Don’t miss the opening reception, which is happening tonight, September 11, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
