The Scream Comes to New York

The most expensive work of art ever sold at auction, Edvard Munch’s The Scream, will be shown in New York this Fall!

The Scream, which was auctioned off at Sotheby’s in May for US$120 million, will be on view at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, courtesy of its new mystery owner, for six months, starting on October 24.

“This is an incredible opportunity for our visitors to see something that is otherwise hard to see,” Glenn D. Lowry, the museum’s director, told The New York Times.

One of four in a series by the Norwegian Expressionist artist, the other three versions of The Scream are all owned by Norwegian museums.
