New York-based artist Mickalene Thomas is best known for her elaborate rhinestone-adorned paintings and her use of colorful acrylic paints, heavily influenced by pop culture as well as Pop Art.
Don’t missThomas’s first solo museum exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, which highlights recent bodies of work that examine interior and exterior environments in relation to the female figure. Origin of the Universe is on view until January 20, 2013.
