Emin’s Bed at Christie’s
One of British artist Tracey Emin's beds sold for $778,900 at Christie's London last week. The four-poster, covered with inscription-embroidered linen, was one of the top items of the sale.
The brass bed, titled "To Meet My Past," was bought by a European bidder in the room who declined to give his name, with Emin’s UK dealer White Cube being the underbidder.
This bed was much more conservative than a similar work titled My Bed, an installation of her bed covered in condoms, stains, and cigarettes. Apparently it looked thus during a time of emotional trauma.
