  2. Moving Image Istanbul

With a loyal following in both London and New York, Moving Image is celebrating their inaugural Istanbul edition this week. One of many factors in choosing Istanbul for their new location is that “we are both huge fans of a number of great Turkish artists working in film and video, such as Nezaket Ekici, Gulsun Karamustafa, Şükran Moral, Serkan Ozkaya, Ahmet Ögüt, and Gizem Karakaş,” the fair’s founders, Ed Winkleman & Murat Orozobekov, explained. Digital art has majorly increased in popularity over the past few years, especially in Turkey, ensuring a promising start to Moving Image Istanbul.

    Moving Image Istanbul debuts September 25 - 28, 2014.

  3. ArtInternational Istanbul

Celebrating its opening over the weekend, ArtInternational Istanbul, which defines itself as a natural gateway where East meets West, aims to bring together international art lovers and galleries to historical Istanbul. The fair was co-founded by art fair maven Sandy Angus, the same man that co-founded Art Basel Hong Kong in 2008 as well as Art13 London earlier this year, and is a shareholder and director of the India Art Fair.

“Our aim is to create a dynamic art-world convergence in Istanbul, showcasing exciting new works and focusing on quality over quantity. We hope to develop a strong cultural program in tandem with the fair and to connect in particular with artistic developments in Turkey and the Middle East,” says fair director Dyala Nusseibeh.
